Subhash Ghai is a graduate in Cinema from the prestigious Film & Television Institute of India situated in Pune.
He participated in United Producers Filmfare talent contest. Out of the 5000 participants, only 3 people were selected and they were, Rajesh Khanna, Dheeraj Kumar, and Subhash Ghai. While Mr. Khanna received a role soon, Ghai had to wait for a year for a role.
Subhash Ghai has a habit of peeking into his directorial ventures. Maybe he considers that lucky for him and the movie. You will find him passing by, waving to the camera, or simply seated in songs of Ram Lakhan, Yaadein, Pardes, etc.

Even though my films were not like that, they were Subhash Ghai films. But he was a guru and I learned a lot from him, which I tried to translate into my own cinema. So the three things that are a must in a film are Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram. A film should have honesty, shiv or divinity, and beauty. Cinema is a celebration.”
After almost three decades of work in Bollywood as a writer, producer, and director, Subhash Ghai established his ambitious school for filmmaking named Whistling Woods International.
Whistling Woods International is a film, communication, and creative art institute located in Goregaon, Mumbai. It was ranked among the top 10 “best film schools in the world" by The Hollywood Reporter in 2010.
