Shashi also gets admitted to learn English from an institute in the USA. This heart-warming Bollywood Blockbuster has left a mark with its concept, acting, and direction.

Here are a few life lessons to learn from English Vinglish: -

Never unfollow your dreams

The simpleton Shashi loved to cook and everyone praised her cooking. Despite thousands of tantrums in regular life, she managed to run her small business of laddoos. Why? Because she also wants to be somebody whom people appreciate for her talent - right? Her dream was also not limited to selling laddoos, she also wanted to be closer to her daughter and husband by learning to communicate in English. And with determination, she did that too.

Always have time for your passion

Shashi towards the end of the movie says that “mere favorite subject mein fail hoke doosre subject mein pass hone ka kya fayda?”. That’s a perfect line to remember forever. You must always have time for your passion - every other thing in life can wait. Because when you do that, you attain heavenly satisfaction.

Respect must be there in marriage

Without respect, no relationship can sustain. Especially, in a marriage where you promise to love and care for someone else, respect must be there. Just because your wife/husband doesn’t earn as much as you do, doesn’t make her/him any less than you.

Knowledge isn’t equal to your English speaking ability

English like Spanish or Japanese or French is just another language. Knowing that language isn’t the yardstick to measure someone’s intelligence. But people in India think that it is a matter of pride and honor to speak and read in English. This movie proved that wrong which is right.

Loving yourself must come first

We all need to love ourselves a bit more. Amidst the office and household problems and tensions, sometimes, we all forget to invest in self-care and self-love - that’s wrong. When you love yourself more, you tend to spread more happiness to the world. There won’t be any boredom when you start loving yourself truly.

Language cannot limit your feelings

There were people from various cultures and communities who came to learn English in that small institute in New York. But that didn’t limit them to mingle and form a nice friendship. If you see the friendship between Shashi and Laurent - your belief in friendship will become stronger. Language is small when your hearts can speak through feelings. Without understanding each other’s language properly, Shashi and Laurent could trust each other so well.

Don’t let anyone else define you

Satish played by Adil Hussain said in one part of the film that my wife was born to make laddoos. There was appreciation in that sentence but no one can deny the pride and authority in that tone. It is wrong to define someone in a derogatory manner - isn’t it? That happened because Shashi never said anything to Satish when he had taken him for granted. You should never let that happen in your relationship.
